Actually, the book was written as political satire, the Emerald City being Washington DC. Her traveling companions were representative of typical DC pols. Dorothy would feel right at home today.

It's as if a new midieval time had begun. We have the duty to preserve those values, principles and skills which make us being free and human by raising our children. So they will be mighty enough to lead others again when the time comes. And it will.

In order to establish a totalitarian system, the first thing you must get rid of is REASON.
