I know Korea is really strict on their trash and recycling, they have special bags for each category like recycling, food waste etc. it stressed me out when I visited haha

i believe it! but not all plastic is recycled (nor is recycling a perfect circle) so just very shocking to see how much there is!

I will actually die on the hill that plastic straws were not a problem and banning them is a huge accessibility issue. Uproar over single use plastics in consumer products was just a way to get the heat off industries that ACTUALLY pollute the ocean with plastic (cough cough fishing industry)

I lived in Japan for 4 years and it is. There were at least 7 categories for trash and how you had to separate them so that everything g could be recycled. And there aren't trashcans in public. You are expected to take your trash home and properly separate it.

i believe there are big recycling + waste efforts but not all plastic is recyclable mostly due to cost vs value of plastic. also just general fossil fuel use in creation of plastics.

(obviously an issue everywhere just shocking to see so plainly!)

Agreed. It's so bad here, but also different in each state tho so 🙃. I respect their efforts, but yeah I always assumed their recycling had to be top tier given all the little single use things.
