I don’t watch cable news anymore and I feel MORE informed than I did before.

It’s a good reminder that cable news exists to sell ads, which is why it reduces news to reality TV, creating content aimed at the lowest common denominator.

Yup. Haven’t watched any news since Nov. 5. Used to be a NBC Evening News with Lester Holt fan. But I don’t miss it. “Be careful who you rent the space in your head to.”

Honestly, the only reason I watch network news is to learn the best brand of toothpaste to whiten my teeth, or the best brand of draino to flush my toilet!

I turn it on occasionally and am shocked at how obvious it now is that all they want to do is scare us.

The morning shows like GMA however seem to get the news right.

Agreed. In fact, I prefer long form, well argued opinions, or factual pieces over talking heads. More meat in the written word is to be had and requires thoughtful construction.

Which is why I've stopped, too. Even, maybe especially even Maddow. Yeah I know she's smart and family but so often it's "be very scared" and never ever criticizing her network overlords nor suggesting our basic economic system is fucked.
