Life is frustratingly difficult for those with artistic talents, unable to work at them for want of food, clothing and shelter. Iām not one but close to those who are.
While the sentiment is spot-on, there's another reason we see contemp art that is less ornate than that from antiquity. Art is about more than demonstration of skill. It should make us think. And sometimes that is best achieved with less detail. Sculptors are not simply living 3D printers.
