Happy Christmas Card Day! In Victorian England, Sir Henry Cole invented the holiday card out of necessity. A receiver of frequent letters, in 1843 he asked a friend to illustrate a design he had in mind, took it to the printer, and sent it to friends, family and acquaintances.
