A Hong Kong martial arts movie with visceral Raid style choreography set in the 80s shot like Chunking Express but with the tone of how people remember the movie Flashdance would rule.

Well that’s the funny thing cuz if you just stop at this vague aesthetic vibe it’ll be a shit movie. You have bring in the human spirit to the story or the stunts what have you.
I know right? Part of me wants to develop it a little more for fun but thats the siren call of a new idea when Im deep into a few projects that are dragging.
Thanks lol. If I actually tried to make it, it would have to be animated which would still be awesome but would lose a little something only live action stunt performance can deliver.
Im glad you picked up on it. Cuz its distinct from the actual film. Im excited to check it out. I was let down by 100 Yards and Takedown so I need to watch something good.

Also do what BTILC did and hire all the appropriate people.
Yes they deliberately went after actors and stunt people from the genre. Which makes it still acceptable today.

we don't quite have that, Twilight of the Warriors is still a very modern-feeling movie even if it's a period piece
but I get what you're saying
like that weird Jack Ma short with all the famous guest stars
