Here is a look at death rates by level of urbanization. The pattern is very stable and the more rural the higher the death rate. The trend is an increasing death rate. the more rural the larger the difference and the first year of COVID shoots them all up.This is a growing serious problem 🧪💡☠️.

I'd always assumed this to be the case. So I'm having trouble understanding "death rates" being higher. Lower death rates should = longer life expectancy, no?
So we could simply have high LE and a high death rate if lots of children die but the survivors live a long time? I've heard that explanation for low LE in Victorian times - if you made it out of childhood you had a decent chance of a longer life.
