ive been studying brain envelope and bbb all month after finding out brain has a microbiome.. personally i consider it the most interesting thing in biology right now

is this how gut-brain axis feedback works? how and when does it populate? do microglia maintain them?

The brain doesn’t have a microbiome. All studies claiming this were methodologically severely flawed. In a healthy person the brain is sterile. Molecules made by gut microbes, esp. short chain fatty acids, however, get to the brian and regulate the blood brain barrier.

Yes for sure. Virion, especially syncytia capable ones can go pretty much anywhere.

Single-cell bacteria are huge and need space/gaps
