I remember Olson swallowing his pain and going on TV to talk about his wife on 9/11. She had died that day on the plane that crashed into the Pentagon. She was on her cell phone with him when that happened.

Ted Olson was a true giant among attorneys and one of the greatest Supreme Court litigators. He argued innumerable huge cases, some awful (Citizens United among others) and some great (California marriage equality, which he considered his most important win.) Raising a glass in his honor tonight.
