This is why cis hets need to stand with the LGBTQ+ community, even if they make you uncomfortable. It' not only the right thing to do (although that should be reason enough) it's also in cis hets' self-preservational interests.

Once you're a member of the European Union, you can't get your membership status revoked. I know it's insane but unless someone does something impossible to ignore, it's unlikely to change anytime soon.

Yes. But that's the problem as the EU charter in its current form offers no way to exclude member states. And it seems like there's no hurry to change it.
