Actually, I do think Singh has a bit of charisma if he knew how to use it, but definitely terrible political instincts. The NDP needs someone with fire in the belly who doesn't talk in circles. I'd support Charlie Angus if he'd be willing to try

Then you know the media have never covered the NDP fairly and are a huge part of the problem. CBC has now banned the words “Palestine” and “genocide,” and labelled even Jewish anti-genocide protestors as racists. The pro-humanity faction is huge and needs a political home. It’s a big opportunity.

Yes and the entire article too. I still think the NDP needs to dump its bureaucratic Lucy Watson/Anne McGrath types - the ones responsible for the milquetoast communications aimed at people who will never vote NDP or changing leaders won’t actually change much. Also 2011 was an anomaly.

Singh has an insane amount of power that he's willing to just throw away because conservatives that will never vote NDP are disappointed in him. They got in his head. He should have been bigger and less petty, put the country over his own ambitions and ego.

The upside is that the collapse of the NDP - and Singh will lose most of the NDP seats in the next election - will result in the left uniting. Hopefully for long enough to bring in ranked ballots or proportional representation, or something else to properly reflect what Canadians believe.

I would love to see Rachel Notley run for this. I doubt that she will though, I think she's had enough of politics. She was, IMO, the best premier Alberta ever had. It was tough to see her ousted by the far right idiots here.

I can't agree with that. She was the premier of Alberta where O&G rule. She had to work with them, a lot of people here work in the industry. I would love to see all projects in O&G come to an end, but we still need it for now. Our current Premier stopped all clean energy progress, unlike Rachel.

Well, I feel differently about her. She was very hard working, inclusive, lives in a VERY modest little house, never a scandal or abuse of money or power. She funded our schools and healthcare, offered incentives for tech companies to come to Alberta, which they did, many left after the UCP won.

Yeah, she was a great premier. I think if she didn't try to play both sides re O&G we'd probably still have her in charge. Just because she's a good premier doesn't mean she could win federally. She wouldn't draw enough away from the libs and wouldn't bring in enough disenfranchised voters.
