I don't see any point in the noisy ones. Restricting sales to organised displays, using quieter fireworks, and at restricted times will do a lot to help pets and other animals.

I couldn’t support you more in this! I live in an area where from early October until into January, you see fireworks intermittently- mainly at weekends, and at irregular times, it’s unacceptable for the wildlife, pets and those who are unable to tolerate the noise. Best of luck with it!

Said this for a long time Sarah and no one listens. My husband found out taking our dog for a walk (who was petrified the whole time because it’s not just a day) husband found out that a fellow dog walker lost his two year old dog through a heart attack because of the fireworks.

Exactly, I have a friend who lost a puppy to fireworks. Poor thing had a heart attack. We have a cat and fortunately she isn’t bothered in the slightest, but it’s awful for those who have pets who are terrified by them.

Has the zoo 100% confirmed this was firework related? What happened to its mother? Have they done a post-mortem or blood tests to rule out natural causes. Animals in zoo die ALL THE TIME. They ar enot good places for poor animals, they are cruel places.

It’s dreadful. Poor little panda. My dog was sick with fear on bonfire night after a couple of weeks of ad hoc displays raising his anxiety. It terrifies pets and wildlife, and the home displays are always rubbish anyway, so what’s the point? They really need to be banned

I was invited to a housewarming last Saturday during which the hosts let off a huge impromptu firework display right over an adjacent pond, clearly terrifying two swans and their cygnets. I was absolutely outraged and left. I've subsequently let the host know why in the hope it prevents a repeat.
