Wow. I had no idea that you were in an earthquake zone. 4.1 is enough to cause damage. We had a 4.x near me that caused the metal flashing in a valley on my roof to tear.

I cleared the snow from the solar panels last week, but maybe snow sliding off the back of the house? Walked outside and confirmed it was not that. Checked the basement and no indication anything there caused it. Said to @linneaharts.bsky.social "That felt like an earthquake." Checked and confirmed.

This was my third earthquake that I can remember. One was in NYC in August 2011. And LA in September 2021.

My in-laws who are in the hills of CT didn't feel it either, even though they're about 15min from me- but I'm in a valley town in CT.. I think being reasonably above sea level is the reason

fun thing that I learned about New England is that our rigid bedrock means earthquake waves travel further/don't decay as fast as they do in other parts of the world. Whee! 😂

yikes, i just now have regulated my flight or fight. . it def felt diff than the rolling shaking i have thought it would be like. it was a violent boom not like the liquifying undulating i thought to expect from an earthquake. so glad it wasn’t an explosion though!!

Felt it in Manchester too. At first thought it was sewer work (there's been a big project in our neighborhood, and we get ground grumbles when they drag the big pipes around).
Conversely, the first time a snowplow went by our house after we moved back from CA, my first thought was 'earthquake?' 😅
