SF2 is not the pick to justify this meme, lol. Because you got asked to buy SF2, then SF2 Turbo, then Super SF2. You didn’t get “the full game” then either, lolololol.
I get it, not just the fact that there were reasons things would have cost more since carts were much more expensive than CDs, and the piece of mind that you know you weren’t missing something. I just feel like people don’t appreciate how much their parents were spending on those games.
Valid sentiment, but families spend way more on phones, computers, and their software now. Most families back then only had like 2 or 3 games for the current console, then rented whatever was trending. We didn't own most our games back then either! ... but at least someone third party did, I guess.
You could ALWAYS go back to the previous version back then. And one didnt needed the other to "be complete"
Wait until all digital starts and good luck going from older revisions to games like Guilty Gear Strive or Dragon Ball Fighter Z, regarded as "better before final patch"
I also knee jerked at the sight of SF2, but it's fair enough. It was a complete game modified for different markets and platforms as technology changed, not a live service renting pieces of a game to you. Most 12-year-olds that dominated the market didn't even realized there were different versions.

Which is part of the reason why it's a bad meme, but also WAY over shared
Street fighter Ii
There are 8 versions of street fighter Ii, not counting console ports even though they should definitely count
Whoever made the meme didn't have the capacity to think through what you just did lol
They likely never sent terminally buggy and broken cartridges back to the manufacturer to get revision carts either
Wait until all digital starts and good luck going from older revisions to games like Guilty Gear Strive or Dragon Ball Fighter Z, regarded as "better before final patch"
But iconically ironic choice
