I’m a corporate solicitor, I’ve probably been involved in negotiations more complex than a ceasefire tbh. I understand completely how negotiations work. Biden did not put any pressure on Bibi to come to an agreement because the big corp that run the Dems were not huge happy with the continuation…

The negotiation will follow the same structure as most m&a negotiations. All parties will have legal counsel (solicitors with very similar experience and background to me) advising them throughout the negotiations. I’m Israeli, I follow “whats been happening” very, very closely.

It's pretty obvious that Biden has been unwilling to withhold arms or support from Israel even when Israel defies Biden's requests. It's obvious you can't negotiate effectively if you give your partner everything he wants even as he gives you nothing you want.

Well I’m sure you negotiate cease fires between warring groups all the time. But the destruction we’ve seen in Gaza is consistent only with a policy of intentional ethnic cleansing. Saying “it’s complex” seems mostly a way to deflect from the indefensible.

The reason why we haven’t stopped isn’t complex; Bibi is hoping to avoid a state commission inquiry into Oct7th - everyone in Israel is aware of this. Biden is certainly aware of this.
