Helping ALL children to THRIVE, should be at the heart of our education system. Whilst we focus only on academics we miss the bigger picture, not sure how we tally it up because academics are important but supporting everyone to thrive in their own way has to be part of that. - ThreadSky

I agree with you.

But it also shows how hard it is to escape the mindset.

Academic study is absolutely NOT in opposition to love of learning.

The high stakes managerial production line targets ARE inimical to academic study.

No it's not in opposition to a love of learning but our focus, (by our I mean society/systems) on those who achieve top grades that it somehow ends up in a reality where many who can't achieve or struggle to achieve are then turned off learning. Which shd not be the case.
