I am bewildered by the total capitulation/embrace of Trump by so many otherwise intelligent people. I’m a psychologist. Maybe it’s bc I work with kids- but I have no understanding/ empathy for what we are seeing.
I get the narcissistic sociopath thing (Trump & Elon). I don’t understand Vance, etc.
Do you know Vance's childhood history? Those who know more than I do say it's how he ended up "like this" (whatever that may mean).
Also he has been quoted as saying that he "doesn't need" and would "refuse to get" any kind of counselling or therapy.
Chili I take that back. I was listening to a podcast with Sarah Longwell, and she and someone else were saying that there was a group of conservatives who are hoping to use Trump as the disruptor and then Vance and his crew come in clean it up and gain all the power.
That does make sense.
Vance is a strong supporter of the Project 2025 plan. I see him envisioning himself as the unitary executive ruling the country as king. Donald has the 'rizz' to get people to join the cult. Vance has no personal appeal whatsoever and is socially awkward - like pretty much all of Donald's sidekicks.
It sociopathic, but it makes sense.
They really don’t understand unforeseen events though. I don’t think they accounted for Elon and Vance’s increasing irrelevance.
If this theory is correct,, they also underestimated Vance’s anti-charisma.
