Pete is extremely wise. I also imagine he has far more information on these matters than we do. I appreciate his wisdom and also his choices regarding matters we may not have access to information about. If that makes sense.

I get why people say that, especially given Pete isn’t speaking out much now so what people remember is his DOT public appearances where he was largely defending the administration. If he starts leading, people will view him differently imo, but it’s up to him.

I don't think that's the issue. Some people seem to think Pete's entire existence should be devoted to being the party's worker bee. But the minute he considers running for a leadership role, they're like "I don't think he can win" or some other excuse to pass him over.

It's just an ongoing pattern of treating Pete like he's the party's very clever and industrious butler. Last year, the party had him do grunt work like hostile interviews, debate prep, fundraising - not the glamorous rallies. And they never took him seriously as a VP option. I'm just tired of it.

I don’t know that I’d assume because someone thinks Ken Martin can arrange something like this, that those people also think Pete shouldn’t run for office and should just be the party’s worker bee. Idk that those two things auto overlap

Just that he should be given a job with staff to give press conferences every day in DC which limits what else he can do. They mostly don’t mention that he may have other things to do. I realise they appreciate his voice on things though.

Agreed. He's a leader, not a staffer. That also puts down staffers, who are incredibly talented and fight hard for their careers in their own lane. Think Jen Psaki, for example. While it may be well-intended, it doesn't flatter her or Pete to suggest he should give up her career and take on hers.

It's not decorum. Think about the sacrifices you're asking Pete to make. You're asking him to give up his dream of running for office. You're asking him to put himself and his family on the top of Trump's target list.

It's not fair to demand that of him and not value his sacrifice.

I agree with your point on the press secretary part. I think people see him as an effective communicator and cutting through the BS. If he were to run for a position in the near future, it would be a good way of staying in the population's mind though.

The only good thing about this is that it reinforces Pete is both popular, respected, and viewed as credible. Not wild about this - what control would he have, who all would be involved, and what financial and security resources would be given to him and by whom?
