Cutting off other artists by being mean to them also starves you of support, inspiration, collaboration, etc.

I remember going through arts education and being taught again and again that other creatives were this enemy to be beaten to get jobs, and it took soooo long to unlearn that.

Like you can have your preferences, or critiques, or just not like someone's work. and like.. unless it's someone who's outright cheating their clientele/ ripping off other people/using AI? Don't go around being shitty?

It also means that the rude and hostile way they present themselves is going to make it hard to make friends with other artists.

Practice is the key part of becoming a better artist, but advice and experiences shared between artists helps too!

And, as a commissioner, when I see an artist behaving this way, I avoid commissioning them. Don't be a jerk. It's bad for business.
