Speaking as a small creator who did have to take one whole year hiatus: people who are there for you & not the games you play will be excited to see you back. I'm back, the people who watched me before the hiatus are back, and I feel better than before.

A legit fear to have. I have that same fear taking months off with the move. On the flip side we saw a snakey someone who recently came back from being away for half a year and is doing well.

I've learned that people will tell you what they want you to hear. Things like "We don't care what you stream, we're here for you" isn't always true either.

The only advice I've seen that really addressed the issue was that you can find smaller ways to interact with your community. Even just small posts like this one can help keep you fresh in the minds of the masses while you still get time to recover.

I suffer from and have lived through that fear, as well. My 4-ish year hiatus I had to take to focus on college meant that I had to restart from the ground up when I got back into streaming regularly.

It's especially tough for smaller creators, because losses are a lot easier to notice...

Also, to clarify, I don't say this in any attempt to dismiss your fears, I say it as a means to relate. It's a very common and understandable concern to have that affects everybody.

From what I've seen it depends on your audience. You just need to let them know what's going on. I've seen someone lose most of their audience and mods because she just vanished without a word one day and thought people would stick around.
