Oh are lefties doing "why can't the homeless live in a central Nebraska town with 600 people and zero jobs" now?
Is this a Russian talking point?
It sounds an awful lot like what republicans have been saying for years
i think it's one of those things a lot of them latch onto because they're college kids and it's the kind of shit that sounds profound when you're a college kid and don't think it through for like five minutes
Lived for an extended period of time in homeless shelters that were funded by a mix of private donations and government grants. Also been in the types of places that have lots of vacant homes. I prefer shelters
is it just "squatting"? like, we should legalize squatting? if no one kicks you out, you can enjoy the tremendous privilege of living in a house with burst pipes until someone else tries to move in too?
well now, this is uncharitable - this person might not mean “rounding em up and shipping em to other states”; they might mean “distributing zines until everyone writes in ‘Communist Revolution’ for president, thus ending the need to acknowledge tradeoffs in policymaking”
you laugh but my state is moving to effectively ban homeless shelters anywhere but the two largest cities (OKC and Tulsa). So we'll just have people sleeping in underpasses or city parks. Not a solution, just cruelty
And outsourcing the states homeless problem to the 2 bluest (a stretch I know) areas in OK. A problem neither OKC/Tulsa have the resources to deal with. Again, the cruelty is the point.
We need to consider the possible class implications of every single policy but also homeowners aren't a class and saying they are means you're a landlord and/or developer
So, probably, is "build up infrastructure in dead and dying areas of the country where all these abandoned houses are so people with complex social and medical needs can be supported instead of left to die in the wilderness" since it will put money in the pockets of contracting companies.
I live in a red state where police, etc., will drive hours to drop their marginalized citizens in our blue cities and then attack our cities for having so many homeless people. It's fucked up.

Housing prices are so high no one can afford a home, so they should just live in all the extra homes for free. — leftist
