She misses the point of the story entirely. Someone asked "Who is my neighbour?" Jesus then says everyone is our neighbour, even the ones who don't belong to our group.

Taking the man to shelter and paying for a few days' care and lodging? Not extravagant at all. Many people meet that standard.
