actually the most democratic thing is to follow no one at all, and pay equal attention to all 21M people on this site. I just quit my day job to dedicate myself to reading every bluesky post

One of the beauties of this app is the different streams/lines you can add as a tab. It seems to keep the “Discover” so much more random and I am absolutely here for it! The photos of the sky, nature, animals, fungi, space, and books all keep me interested in checking in here.
Yeah, I don’t get following hundreds or thousands of people. At that point your Following feed becomes useless and you need to use a custom feed to see the content you really want. In which case, what was the point of all those follows? I’m following <100 and it’s almost too much!
The most republican thing is exactly the same, except you ask someone else to do it for you instead. Occasionally they assure you that that's what they're doing, and stop bothering them so they can spend more time reading all of the posts. They do not have an account
