I would say 911 dispatchers provide a valuable service but it would be ok to criticize them if you called them and instead of sending an ambulance they said "Someone should do something about this!" and hung up

You have no idea the stress they go through. Every call is usually someone’s worst moment. Also mainly women and minorities fulfill that in south Florida. So jokes not funny to me.
i would definately critisize a 911 dispatch if they werent courteous and professional. its their job to keep their cool, while someone is having the worst day of their life
if 911 went to Congress, we would be put on hold. No response…remember that in 2026 and beyond. Dispatch is your lifeblood if you’re a cop on the street. I’ve been there.
Calling 911 in Houston requires you to sit through what feels like 5 minutes of giving your name and info before they get to actually asking what the issue is.
it's a joke except one night i saw a bloodied, intoxicated man, wearing nothing but a hoodie in sub-zero temp, struggling to get off the ground, and i called 911. their response was essentially "what are you going to do about it" and i was like "ummmm well i called emergency services..."
Scary situation in the U.K. is that can actually happen, especially when there is huge demand for ambulances and they triage your call and feel you could actually make your own way to hospital and don't really need an ambulance.
Kinda like negotiating the care for my elderly sister. Everyone I talk to inevitably says, “That’s terrible, there must be something that can be done.” Then crickets.
You call 911 to report that your 50-story building is burning. They say they'll take care of it, but $5 would really help. They call back 20 times keeping you updated on how they're going to put the fire out and asking for $5. The building burns to the ground and you never hear from them again.
The number of people who think this post is genuinely about medical workers reinforces the fact that we have GOT to start reading books again in this country. Fucks sake.
Or just pay attention to people like “turdsandwich” right here, assuming that anyone who criticizes Dems didn’t vote Dem, and blaming them for Trump winning.
Talk about entitlement, presumption and stupidity. Whining about how leftists suppress votes while telling people not to protest. 🤮
Yup! And People need to do more than go to a ballot box every four years .
It’s harder to find community when “third spaces” have been commercialized and defunded, so the internet can be a good starting point, but in general I agree.
I'd laugh, except I've had terrible experiences w/ 911 call takers/dispatchers. Madison, WI in particular. Called in a drunk driver, gave plate #. Operator: How do you know they're drunk?
Me: He's sitting in the middle of (names intersection) with his car running, passed out at the wheel,
his window open in December, and there's a bottle of vodka just outside his driver's door.
Operator: Is it his bottle?
Me: Well, let me just get my fingerprint kit out of my cab and I'll let you know.
And then send you a message afterward vaguely guilt tripping you into believe it was your fault for them not helping, and that all they need is five dollars to get the job done next time.
"911 is unable to respond at this time due to not being able verify the X account of the caller. Please register your account so that you can be on our list and we can service our communitiesneeds appropriately" -Make America Great Again probably.
Using 911 dispatchers as an analogy is a bit nuanced for some of the people in this thread who think it's meant to disparage actual 911 dispatchers, which incidentally is a much harder job than being in Congress I think.
Utmost respect for volunteer 911, but my experience was not good. They left my husband lying on the floor because they couldn’t even find a stretcher to take him out on. He was a 9-11 first responder and died from their incompetence 20 years later. Live now in a place with paid fire and EMS depts.
"We are sorry but 911 is disabled at this time for downloading and an update. We do not know whether it will be economically feasible to resume. But please try later just in case"
AND -- " Just so you know--- we now have your name, address, bank account details, medical history, business records and school reports. Call again and we'll send the boys around to arrest you--- for something"
Imagine 911 dispatchers being on the side of people causing the accidents. " If you didn't want to get hit, why did you drive through the intersection when the light was green?"
Literally anything. Could've passed laws banning insurrectionists from running. Could've put him in jail. Could've not confirmed his cabinet. Could've not said, "welcome home."
Like nobody in power in the world could do anything about this clown? Really?
But they can tweet!
nobody is claiming there's one simple trick that they just need to do, the frustration is that there is enormous latitude to obstruct him that is being ignored and every time anyone says "why don't they even try to obstruct this" some dumbass smugly goes "but that won't magically stop him"
when i was 12 my friends & i were left alone and playing with fireworks (super smart 90s idea). i blew one up in my eye. my friends called 911 & got hung up on twice bc they assumed it was a prank call. they never did anything. my dad came & got me & rushed me to the er. completely fucking useless.
You know, for all the screaming the right has done about radical leftists and antifa being radical leftists in the past decade plus, I sure don’t see any ACTUAL radical leftists doing anything, uhhh, “radical,” in response to all their fascist shit.
Funny that some on the right were heralding Luigi as a hero too despite their right-wing thought leaders telling them otherwise. If things get bad enough they'll want a revolt too; too bad we can't trust them -- in general but also not to shoot themselves in the eye.
This should be a uniting factor. Healthcare is an “All of us” issue. And now, with this coup happening, we can be in this together, and reunite as a solid nation. But, we’ll see.
Govs, since the Constitution doesn’t seem to matter anymore, couldn’t you also threaten to ban or tariff trade with Republican States until they agree to his removal from office? @governorwalz.mn.gov @governor.ca.gov @govpritzker.illinois.gov @govmaurahealey.bsky.social @govandybeshear.bsky.social
Ok but hear me out - what if they emailed you after that experience, forever, requesting a financial contribution? You know, so that someone could do something about this?
I mean that's basically what the hospitals did during covid. "Oh you have respiratory issues? Gee that's terrible. Would be nice if someone could help with that"
Bullshit. I worked 13 hour shifts in full PPE watching healthy 30 year old drown in their own snot while people in the lobby with broken toes called me a faggot for not getting to them fast enough. No one got turned away.
Maybe not on your city. The city I lived in at the time stated they were "At capacity, only took existing patients, or was not taking anyone with stomach or respiratory issues(flu like symptoms) for any reason". At the time I had no existing doctor as my prior job just sent everyone urgent care
Good for you. It doesn't change reality and it doesn't change I got fired for being unable to get a doctor visit. As well as being terrified or dying during Covid lock downs becuase of how severely ill I get when I contract literally any sort of respitory infection. When prior covid and after
Flu like symptoms can mean someone has an ulcer, stomach cancer, has bronchitis, has pneumonia, has COPD has asthma". Saying come back in 2 weeks for some of these conditions means the person may be dead.
I auctully got fired from a job for this. My new job didn't provide health care and had a mandatory rule that if you went home sick you needed a doctor not. Without the doctor note we weren't allowed to come back. As well as a mandatory Covid test we had to try and beg the hospitals for.

Overworked and underpaid not a good combination.
If you answer white, they respond with "thoughts n prayers!", and hang up on your sorry Maga ass!
YOU ARE THE REASON THR ACCIDENTS WON 🫵

Just wait until Trumps tariffs raise the price of new tires.

What did a 911 dispatcher do now?
Oh! Excellent point
Me: He's sitting in the middle of (names intersection) with his car running, passed out at the wheel,
Operator: Is it his bottle?
Me: Well, let me just get my fingerprint kit out of my cab and I'll let you know.
You could pay them with stickers and cookies.
They could call it “child one one”
(Borrowed image)
Like what if we could all forward this to Schumer?
Like nobody in power in the world could do anything about this clown? Really?
But they can tweet!
But agreed on every other point.
Making Garland AG was one of the worst mistakes Biden made. He should have picked Doug Jones and arrested Trump on Day One.
What do we do *now*?
How about unplugging and plugging them back in?
Their overreach is unprecedented in modern times!
