Ah, my Mr went in there, said it smelt of stale beer and pee. I imagine local teens hang out in it. I know I would have had I lived there. We had a closed down TB hospital to explore. The morgue was a good spot as it was overlooking the drive so we knew security were coming.

I thought it would inevitably have a certain odour, but I didn't actually notice anything other than my boat slowly descending whilst I tried (and failed) to take arty photos inside. It's a very leaky lock.

Can not rememeber it being leaky, But we did so many locks over the year we were cc'ing. I do remember a tunnel not far from there and an agressive male boater shouting at us.

Yes. Great tunnel with houses on top. It wanted my chimney but I'm wise to that on the S&W now and took it down first.

Some boaters, eh? I once had someone deliberately accelerate past me because they decided the clearly signed visitor mooring I was moored at was a lock landing. What can you do?

Not a lot. When we were on the Golly we had a man ram our boat. We obviously went out to shout at him and he offered us a fight. I almost took him up on it as I am pretty handy.I do not want to go to prison, so we made peace.

They all are on the S&W. It's a seductive canal, luring you into thinking it will be an easy passage with the first lock at Tixall being so shallow, but then you hit the second one at Deptmore and it's pretty much scaling slippery ladders for every lock onwards.
