I have not stood for the star spangled banner since Roe was overturned. My granddaughters don’t have the same rights I did. It really slapped me when I thought of how Black people love this country in spite of the way it has treated them.

I sort of learned them in the sixties at a summer camp close to the Canadian border, where we gathered at the flagpole every morning to raise both flags. Except I could never figure out why Canadians were neither "true, nor strong, nor free."
