Val castle in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region was built in the 14th century. It's here that the iconic Franco-Italian film The Captain with Jean Marais was filmed. In the movie the castle is named after Clairefont. Throughout its history, the fortress has been damaged and restored several times.
