We can look at the release timeline and notice a trend of Chunsoft > Spike Chunsoft pumping out games. And right around 2013, it slows to a fucking crawl. Likely because PMD-whiners shit on Gates to Infinity. And it's been a slow trickle since.

PMD Gates to Infinity and Super (and the DX Remake) are okay but not good PMD games.
Each has their own reasons why they felt a bit off.
I believe Shiren 6 was a good step in a new golden age for the series, even if I'm not so big on the 3D look.
