An interim step in the right direction would be gov funded healthcare insurance that charges premiums that are just enough to cover the healthcare provided. No more tens billions of profits going to huge corporations.

They have wanted to dismantle Medicare for decades and fail every time. Not only is Medicare not for profit, it is the most efficient form of reimbursement we have. The benefits to most Americans would have been so dramatic we would have rioted if they tried to take it away. The KNOW this well.

Correct. For profit healthcare shouldn’t exist. We wouldn’t have the best healthcare in the world if not for it, but ethically and morally you are correct. Even non-profit ceos are making over a million on average now. UHCs CEO was only making a third of what comparable companies pay their CEOs fwiw

Remove profit from essential services. Food, housing, clothing, and healthcare (mental, emotional, and physical) should all be barred from being controlled by for-profit companies.

Probably. UHC doesn’t provide healthcare, so anything is better than nothing. Carriers pay the bill that providers charge for services rendered. Too many providers are charging way too much, even for ibuprofen and boxes of tissue.

It is the fear among well to do people their level of healthcare will diminish if we had a universal healthcare program.

They view getting to live as an incentive for why people should strive to better their status in life.

It does diminish though. Stop acting as though universal healthcare is a magical pill that solves all of our problems. There is a better solution than our current set up. It will take effort from multiple parties in order for this to work, but the blame lies at the feet of the Republican Party.

Very true. The ACA is a shell of its intended result as well. Insurance companies are also putting a check on hospitals as well. They are charging as if they are a for profit system as well. Even non profit hospitals pay CEOs over a mil on avg. UHC’s former CEO was a third of comparable companies.

To me the whole point of an insurance system is to help those who maybe can't pay for a life-changing big cost - such as a major surgery, or in the case of auto insurance, a replacement vehicle - without having them break the bank. Imagine if auto insurance has 32% denials, or if food stamps did!
