I don't think the Democrats or the political structure in the US are frankly good enough to fix the many many problems even if the pendulum does swing back. They need to tear up their broken constitution and legislative/governmental framework and start again and there is 0 chance of that.

Maybe- Manchin & Sinema were def plenty lefty until they got to Congress.
Manchin was preserving his personal fossil fuel interests, and Sinema got a taste of living large on corporate donor money. Then it became all about appeasing them.

Trump has already said he won’t honour Article 5. My fear is that means Russia will try its luck with the Baltics and leave Europe with the choice of either fighting the bear alone or throwing countries to it one by one in the hope that it is sated.

I would not be entirely surprised if Ukraine did.

They have the nuclear reactors and I bet they still have the expertise.

They may even still have the missile silos in repairable condition, I don't know what happened to them in the 90s.
