I never liked Mark Twain's most famous piece of writing advice - "Write what you know". It's okay-ish ... if you don't take it literally. I would've said something more expansive like ... "Write what moves you," or "Write what you dream or imagine." Fulfillment in writing starts w/satisfying *you*.

It’s a difficult thing to come to terms with. Once you make that peace though and start writing for yourself, that’s when you can truly fall in love with it.

I write lovecraftian horror and honestly, I know it’s not for everyone, but it brings me immense joy. That’s what matters.
