current read. going back to Mossflower. I've had this copy of Marlfox since I was in high school. haven't read it since then. hoping it holds up and that Long Patrol was an outlier #booksky

Yesyesyesyes! So happy to see someone talking about these still. I had all of them growing up but they got re-homed along the way. I loved Mariel of Redwall and The Bellmaker.
I read the series initially when I was younger and this past year I've been rereading it between denser novels. they hold up really well, they all have the vibe of old 90s animated movies
I really enjoyed the high seas adventure of the Bellmaker, a nice change of pace from the usual formula
I think The Long Patrol is compromised by having so many hares. There needs to be like, a max of one of those in any room at one time. I remember Marlfox being a favourite
there's that, but the plot too is the most aimless of the series so far. it follows different bands of characters that just sort of happen to run into each other for the climax. there's not really any moment of inciting action that pushes things along
