Well I like to know how you come up with generally have you ever tried using the mic on this thing. Not to mention that a lot did amount of space to type makes it difficult. And who likes to be cut off in mid discussion just to say continue and hit the plus which I do
I disagree. In titles and headlines, yes, but in comments, no, they should end with a punctuation mark. But at least we can have a civil disagreement about that. π
Thatβs what it is. I was wondering why it was so much easier following these posts. I donβt have to translate misspelled words and grammatically incorrect sentences.
Yup, another dead giveaway of the Putin funded disinformation trolls trying to sow as much lies, hate, fear-mongering, division & xenophobia as they can. Of course, Putin establishes outsourced troll farms in various nations around Eastern Europe and Northern Africa, but only elites know English.
then you must subscribe to my monkey and ape facts john you are too relaxed and need to be brought into the mild anxiousness that is the default human state here is a spider monkey they are native to central and south america over 80% of their original habitat has been destroyed by humans
i have never been able to see a monkey in real life we were supposed to go on a trip to see a chimpanzee sanctuary before the big virus hit but then everything got locked down i work because i am tech smart but i cant drive or go places alone and it takes a lot of coordination for us to do things
Omg, are you on the spectrum?
I've never had a license either, and I always tell people I'm more comfortable on the inside of a computer than on a keyboard.
I type like I'm playing battleship.π€£π€£
I have a hard time being "grammatically correct"
I find im way more pleased with how my thoughts appear in posts when i make them as close to how i would say them
Also i like my posts to have a certain visual authenticity where they appear how i perceived them
Idk hopefully its not to annoying
Yep. On Xitter a little pang of guilt would flow through my finger every time I hit Reply and saw a typo or grammar error rise on the screen. With Xitter I'd just toss it off: no one will see it anyway, I'd think. But with Blue Sky you just can't do that any more.
It makes MAGA trolls even easier to spot.
I'm about to block one whose personal insults gave him away, but he also displayed the classic "your" vs. "you're" criterion.
Yep it's exactly why education is systematically stymied by so many governments in the worldπ« uneducated people are more likely to be "followers" not "citizens"
Funny.
Just got blocked by Cohen for questioning him about his email to Vanity Fair recommending that the cases against Trump be dismissed. Blocked for wanting to have some dialogue about it. I guess we are not allowed to ask questions.
As a voracious reader & stickler for accuracy, I agree! I have to count to ten to not correct the writer when I see the inane spelling/grammar errors that a fourth grader in grade school wouldn't make! π
Come to think of it,I haven't been rolling my eyes nearly as much
Even the person who randomly declared that audiobooks count as reading spelled everything right
Thatβs an interesting observation! It does seem like Bluesky fosters a different kind of environment. Hopefully, it becomes a place where meaningful conversations thrive and folks can feel comfortable engaging respectfully.
Completely agree. It wonβt help their post election anxiety and embarrassment. Trump voters are going fall apart when they realize they were duped. And they will suffer along with the rest of us.
Such a relief, isn't it? As a teacher, I wanted to correct tweets but too many were beyond correction. Amazing how some ppl just won't be corrected. Cults. I wonder if it was like this w/ Hitler.Sm are temporarily depraved. Others are permanent. Some ppl still love Hitler. They R permanently depraved?
Honestly, one thing I don't like about BlueSky is that when autocorrect changes my words, it won't underline it and let me click on it to go back to what I actually wrote. I have to delete and type it again. My autocorrect went rogue a long time ago, so it's a problem for me.
Truth. I wish you could edit posts/replies because whenever I misspell something, my pride forces me to delete the whole thing just to rewrite it more carefully
Yep, the Grammar Police here would have a field day with those Twitter trolls! They better brush up on their spelling and punctuation if they want to survive in this well-educated land of correct grammar and syntax. Good luck, trolls. You're gonna need it!
Whilst I always have anxiety over my own spelling and grammar, I admit I'd have to disagree with you here; it would lead to classism and discriminating against those with dyslexia, those in low-education-quality areas (apparently only 70%~ Americans have literacy above 12y/o, or ESL folk!
is the 'however' smug assholes who base their moral compass or who create a hierarchy of who to listen to based on ppls spelling &/or grammar on a micro blogging site outing themselves as being exactly that? fucking dork
Got to say more profanities on here than x. Not sure why that is, I was always taught that using profanity is because you have nothing intelligent to say!
The autocorrect functions are significantly better than Iβve been used to. If that not a function of the site then my device is in greater harmony than before.
The beauty of it is that 99% of the people here will give grace, they aren't grammar and spelling nazis. I actually asked a grammar question the other day and got a very nice, educational response.
As a homeschooler now teaching high school level lang arts I really appreciate your skills. This the hardest subject to teach by a mile for me. I look up videos to help me but I just remain stupid. I honestly donβt know how I got through it myself when I was in high school.
I started to enjoy English more when a teacher suggested I stop worrying about why we did it this way, and just accept that this is what everyone does.
I loved my English teachers, was always one of my best subjects. However, I do have the habit of shorthand and slang on SM due to character limits. Sorry π€·ββοΈ
Donβt underestimate yourself! I am a Language Arts teacher as well. I love that you are educating yourself as you go. I learn new things EVERY DAY!! Youβve got this, mama!!
Your point of view would be very helpful as a teacher! If you have ideas on how to make these ideas stick, please let me know. Please dont let the name turn you off. =) https://tacticalhemorrhoid.com/
So for me, that's more like getting my students to write a persuasive essay, again using evidence to support their arguments. It's a challenge for sure. π
Well since my flight home is delayed, I'll play. I don't want to enter the site but "ethos, pathos, logos" is typically used in a unit dealing with rhethoric or "argument" but not necessarily what most of us think of when "arguing." It's more like presenting your point of view but with evidence.
no we need to just be able to say what we mean without being judged the grammar police do a perfect job of derailing any good point into the mud of obscurity we all can read and know what you mean and if we dont that is what clarifying questions are for
I can't do social media on my phone.
I'm old enough that it's hard for me to see, and arthritis makes it really difficult to type on those dumb little keys.
Believe it or not I have a desktop I use for gaming, and now social media.
I have that, but the problem is that I can't really read the texts that I am responding to.
Besides to be honest, I hate phones.
Always have and always will.
Even before smart phones and cell phones, I would ignore phone calls and messages for as long as possible.
Would an Ipad (or other tablet) give you big enough print? That would let you use it, including the microphone on the pop up keyboard, like a giant phone.
For me speaking is when you are in the presence of others. Hearing myself saying words to inanimate objects just leaves me with a creepy non-reality sensation. Certainly if it keeps you connected to others, use the accessibility feature.
Oh talking to inanimate objects is not an issue for me, since I do it all the time.
It's knowing that someone is going to read what I said that freaks me out.
I'd be willing to bet the truer perspective on the exchange comes from south of the border since our bozo is known to lie through every other word he speaks.
The Xitter trolls have already descended upon BlueSky. Don't be afraid to report them. They're easily spotted - mostly by the name-calling and disinformation
It's starting to feel like boiling the ocean. For people who are new here, know that there are block lists that you can subscribe to. Definitely not perfect, but hopefully good enough for the moment.
For people who are new here, please block and report generously. Bots and troll farm accounts are on every platform because they are a big part of not only foreign influence but also advertising. Blocking these accounts completely voids their purpose.
Because you are limited to some three hundred characters, spelling and grammar are punted down in importance. Density of information is, hands down, the more important aspect on places that put these restrictions on expression.
Comments
We also know the difference between "your" and "you're".
Bad grammar and spelling are migraine inducing for one with OCD.
I've never had a license either, and I always tell people I'm more comfortable on the inside of a computer than on a keyboard.

Iβll check my spelling.
Sigh... I eh underestimated their numbers... Time to panic, time to panic...

On the other hand however...

My 4th grade teacher held me back from recess one day, and MADE me learn it! LOL I never forgot hat lesson!
I'm interested in keeping their paws off us.
