Daily listener here. The fact that you are even ON that platform, @davidpakman.bsky.social kinda shows me the devotion you're giving to your show.
I'm not surprised. But thanks for letting all of us know.
I live in the UK we really liked Jimmy Carter he was the best president America has ever had then you have Biden. Who is also the best president America has ever had trump is the worst president America has ever had
And Biden is also. One of the best president s, America has ever had trump was the worst president America has ever had trump has not achieved anything
Listen David Jimmy Carter was the best president America has ever had trump is the worst president America has ever had Jimmy Carter had achieved so much in. His life time
Thank you for all your years of service not only as our President but as a diplomat during your post presidency years. His attitude in life should be honored and his legacy should never be forgotten. RIP President Jimmy Carter
David, it's "Trothed". I would think you know this by now 😉
Also, Trumps base are not equipped to understand the significance of what Carter did, so it is of no surprise that silence emanates from that "platform."
What are the odds that Trump actually wrote his two posts himself about Carter? Respectful, no weird capitalizations, no spelling errors/typos, no run-on sentences, etc. Just a sincere appreciation of another human being -- nope, an aide wrote it.
I saw your video Jimmy death, in your opinion did you think Jimmy Carter as U.S. president is underrated that needs to have more praise in the future on his personality and accomplishments that both critics, scholars, historians or political scientists and general public that ranked below average.
Jimmy Carter is ranked middle-tier to critics, scholars, historians and political scientists and is divisive to the general public after his reception change from a negative which Jimmy Carter as U. S. President did get some praise to let you know which you never mentioned.
To be honest, I’m glad it happened before 1/20. When a former president passes, the current president usually gives some kind of eulogy. Jimmy Carter deserves better than to be eulogized by Trump.
Yes, also on a brighter note. With Jimmy Carter's passing, timing is everything. Flags will be at half mast when trump takes office. Is Jimmy smiling about that, now? I bet he is.
The “truth” is that none of them respected him at all. They all stand against everything Carter stood for. They should simply shut their mouths. It’s insulting
Goldwater: “…these people frighten me. Politics and governing demand compromise. But these Christians believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can't and won't compromise. I know, I've tried to deal with them.”
And he was considered an extreme conservative in his day.
Are you daring us to check it out? Probably won’t be able to resist the temptation of eventually doing so, but am not currently in the mood to have my faith in humanity challenged by the presumably vile, contemptible (or at best, disingenuous) comments now being made over at that odious place.
Bet they don’t know that he deregulated the trucking industry. Whether that was a good or bad thing is highly debatable, but just goes to show that a lot of what people “think” they know is wrong. And that, to varying extents, goes for both sides, btw.
Excellent call-out! This isn't something I was old enough to experience firsthand, but it's a thing that I studied later on because it's an early piece of modern era legislation that gets praised and pooped on depending on perspective.
The older I get, the more it becomes increasingly obvious that virtually nothing is ever easy or simple, and everything — starting even at the single-cell organism — is vastly more complex than we often realize. https://www.cell.com/current-biology/fulltext/S0960-9822(20)30491-7
I'm not getting any younger myself and shit is supposed to be easier to understand when you have a certain amount of experience, but I'll be damned if people's behavior ever simplifies.
As a certified old fart, the only way I find life “simpler” in some respects these days is just by really having no fucks left to give at this point, which frees me from a certain amount of “go along to get along” doublethink, but otherwise not in the least.
Generally this was a Republican effort under Nixon and Ford, but when it got bipartisan Congressional support Carter signed the Motor Carrier Act of 1980.
I think this may have been a concession from Carter in an election year given that his opponent would eventually leverage for mass deregulation
Well, that’s the expedient nature of (small-d) democratic politics for you. Doesn’t always coincide with or make for good long-term policy, but at the end of the day getting elected (or re-elected) is the name of the game.
Yes sir. And this exact kind of stuff is the kind that undermines small-d and, in fact maps directly to legislation that attempts to destroy the small d, entirely.
No one, or at least not me, is arguing that we should be sad when he dies or becomes incapacitated. The point is you can put all your wish-casting on him "going away" and that's your business. It won't change much of anything and could make things even worse. JD as president?
Canada remembers the peanut farmer from Georgia as a stand up man...a man of honest humility and humanity...a fine president of the United States of America
I wouldn't know and I don't want to know I just absolutely despise everything about him everyone who supports him and anything with his name with his family
If they acknowledge him and the good he did, they'll have to admit where they're lacking personally and professionally. It would be difficult to measure up.

About as bad as Twitter/X.

He will rage tweet at two am at some point this week.
I hope you wore hip waders...

He wasn’t perfect, but he was honest.
