Depends on which glaciers. The Greenland & Antarctic icesheets will take a long time to melt completely, but can raise sea levels long before that. Mountain glaciers often are disappearing much faster. Within a few decades Glacier National Park could be "the park formerly known as Glacier."

Yes … it was a report out of Europe.. where they saw over 100yards in 1 year .. forgot if it was around the Alps… where they found a hikers body that disappeared in a crevasse in the 60’s

The Colorado Rockies had many small remnant glaciers when I hiked there in my youth. They added a lot to the scenery and high-country ambience.

Good question! The anomalies represent deviations from average conditions over 1955-2006, so negative values are below that baseline, positive values are above it.

Warmer waters could warm the air above, or simply take less heat away from that air, depending on temperature differentials & winds.
