Hot take: even if you don't like them, I'd wish you and anyone helping beginners to consider recommending visual calculations. So many times on Reddit the answer to a beginner question is "measure xyz" where the beginner would be better helped by giving the visual calcs solution.

I just saw Reid Havens horizontal waterfall. That's a good use case. About beginners, it depends. It might help them quickly but lead them to bad practice too avoiding real measures too much and creating technical debt. In Spain we have a saying "Bread for today, hunger for tomorrow"

Hard disagree. Visual Calculations are not a bad practice but simply the kiddy pool to DAX.
