Part of what makes this era so frustrating is that the U.S. has always had — I said, looking at my Black skin — a minority in its borders who would vote for evil policies. The country's constitution, laws, norms & social assumptions combine to make that minority _incredibly influential_.

What has to happen _includes_ defeating Trump, sure. But what has to happen to achieve lasting resolution to this nonsense is the disempowerment of this minority — done by using the tools available to us in our democratic system with neither apology nor remorse.

This faction falls short of a majority — even if reporters go on safari to find it in rural Ohio diners, or if its views get exalted as what “real Americans” believe.

Dealing with this faction doesn’t call for deference. It calls for putting it in a sealed box.

Haven’t we known the Hitler’s generals thing for a couple years now? Not saying we shouldn’t talk about but why didn’t anyone seem to notice in 2022? Also, Hitler’s generals pretty famously tried to kill him. 🤷‍♀️
