This is utterly dreadful. I have POA in relation to my aunt for finance and property and it has often occurred to me that no one would know if I was ripping her off or not. Every time I pay myself for having bought her some underwear I get a nervous pang. Should POAs have to present annual A/Cs?

The problem is that it’s a totally unregulated business; there are voluntary codes, but nothing legally binding. The upsurge in ‘free’ or cheap wills is frightening, remember the old adage of something too good to be true? I say that as a member of the Institute of Professional Willwriters. 🤬
