I don’t think there were too many years in my 40yr NHS career when we didn’t have to be happy with a below inflation pay rise or live with the knowledge that anything we got above inflation we paid for ourselves via ‘efficiency’ savings.

In Primary Schools there will be no option but to cut staff, so much of the school budget is staffing costs. This will mean less support for SEND, less hours for curriculum management/leadership/CPD, more stress & exhaustion, lower standards for the poorest. The teaching unions must strike surely
