Doubt that will happen. What is more likely is Sony releases the disc drive separately, just like the PS5 Pro, to squeeze out an additional $80. The tax for staying with physical.
Part of me (Hopefully) doubts Sony would drop discs. There's a lot of people in countries that rely more on physical games. Or even those in the US with strict data caps.
My guess is that first party stuff will have physical copies, but more 3rd party devs will opt out of physical releases.
People doubt it will happen. I say I want it to happen because it would be funny. Because then with PlayStation slowly phasing out of being relevant as a unique console line, and Xbox already having phased out of being a console, that means Nintendo wins by forfiet.

And yes I understand there will be folks who boycott such a move if it ever happens, just don't think it will sink Sony or PS long term.
Digital is fine, it’s worked for Steam for years and no need to go backwards
