By the way, let's compare how much do pregnant women pay for the "service" of being allowed to give birth in a hospital in the US vs any other of those countries.

Lets. Because all the other countries are under universal health care, the cost out of pocket is either no existent, or very low. In the US, just for the delivery alone out of pocket is 2000 to 3500. That is not prenatal or post natal care, not even the hospital stay.
And if you're unlucky enough to need an emergency c-section, like I did when my kiddo turned herself breech mid-labor, the price goes up to $37,684. No exaggeration.
I want to apologize, I think we actually agreed. I went to the emergency room and was charge an extra 3500 dollars because I had life threating injuries. So I understand what you are saying.
My son, now 22., a blood clot behind the placenta. Good thing I was in the hospital, would have lost us both. I was there to be induced because of precautions because of the son I lost, before, an amniotic band wrapped around the umbilical cord. The last a scheduled c-section. over 30 grand.
Omg seriously? I had to have an emergency c section as my son was a brow presentation (forehead first) and we were in hospital for 10 days. Cost zilch. Australian public hospital system at its best.
If I remember correctly when I gave birth to our daughter over 20 years ago it was around $34,000 for a C-section and that was because I insisted on leaving the hospital on the 4th day. If I stayed longer it would have been more. Insurance paid $31,000 and we paid $3000.
