Honestly, at the time (and still now) I wish Hillary had just said “look, I fucked up, and I won’t do it again.” I have no proof for this, but I really believe that if she had just acknowledged her mistake and said she had learned from it, it would’ve helped. But they tried to defend it.

That’s the thing about the Clintons. They get stuck in a small scandal and then admit to the minor wrongdoing drip by drip instead of just laying it out. Like a teenager who got caught staying out too late or something. They’re just terrible at managing scandal, and the R’s figured that out.

When the FBI investigation opened the party should have encouraged more people to run. No matter how stupid and unfair you might think it is, you have to have a detached and sober enough outlook to see that an investigation is a political minefield that could blow up at the worst possible moment.

You’re totally correct that they had no excuse to vote for him over her, I voted for her even though I thought her emails were a legitimate issue. But I do wonder if she had just admitted to it being a problem instead of pretending like everything is fine, whether it would’ve made a difference.

I don't know how old you are, but if you lived through the 90s, you'd know that's a pipe dream. There was nothing Hillary Clinton could possibly do right. If she stood up and said "i made a mistake" that clip would have run 24/7 as proof that she admitted her own incompetence.

I did love through the 90s. I grew up loathing HRC. I still voted for her in 2016, and I think there were a decent number of people who were turned off by the emails scandal and her acting like it was no big deal. It’s no different from saying Hegseth and Signal isn’t an issue.
