I mean. You can think of it however you'd like, but its hard to argue that Tetsuya Yamagami hasn't gotten everything he'd set out to accomplish. Like Holy Shit.
Im not talking about the success of the actual 'hit'- I'm talking about how Yamagami's goals For assassination are all coming to fruition. Multiples members of Japanese government seen disgraced and out, public opinion of the Unification Church in shambles, and now it's actual dissolvement.
I will conceede that Booth inadvertently getting Jackson elected was a 'win' in terms of his ideology, but he didn't set out to specifically do that. He would have had no idea it was even in the cards. So yes, I think Yamagami is taking the lead here.
Well Booth did want to avenge the Confederacy, which he did. Maybe he didn't specifically aim to ruin Reconstruction but I'm sure he'd be happy with the results. Points to Yamagami for achieving his specific goal though. And also for surviving. I'd be surprised if they executed him at this point.
