The facts as we know them, few as they are, ask baffling questions about how the school perceived and responded to the assault, as well as the relentless bullying they experienced for at least a year prior to the murder.

There's a tension here because the person who should remain at the center of our hearts and focus is Nex, their family, and the other trans student who was attacked. At all times. Yet the moment calls for more than sadness, it calls for rage and action.

this is hard for me in situations like this because so often this shit is the alternate end of incredibly familiar stories so many of us have & it only didn’t end up that way for us because we rolled a natural 20 or whatever.

There are things that the Biden administration could do. But they would only work until some GOP asshole filed a suit and got it to the Supreme Court. What we need unfortunately is a Dem controlled Congress willing to nuke the filibuster long enough to pack the supreme court.

and then, more importantly, we would need them to keep the Republicans out of the same position permanently. Otherwise they would just do the same thing to us when they had the house senate and White House.
