Interesting situation at centre if both Evans and Dvorak are dealt. Then they need more than one pivot. Beck can replace Evans. Can Kapanen take over from Dvorak next season? It seems a veteran centre is needed to bridge the gap until other prospects come to fruition.

So unfortunate for Dach, but you may be on to something that perhaps he wasn't 100% on the knee all season. The right 2C becomes the priority now. Do they acquire a vet place holder, or go after a piece that fits long-term? The off-season will be interesting.

I dont think he would ever say he wants to be traded. Doesn't mean if right opportunity was presented he wouldn't want to move on. That being said, if he wants to remain a Pen I totally respect that. Most abandon sinking ship. He is a true leader.. I would love him to finish his career in Montreal.

Agree that the 2nd line needs a center, but after the deadline the 2 bottom lines may be in disarray and will look very different next year. That could be a problem to solve in off season, but having 2 good top lines would be awesome.

Great insight as always. The only thing I would quibble with is the assertion that Beck will be overmatched in his 1st games as 2C. Hasn't looked that way so far (granted very small sample size).
