The Montreal Canadiens season is over, but what a season it was: Overachievers until the end.
In this final Call Of The Wilde for Global Montreal, the Demidov growth, the Laine question, and the search for a 2C, and more nasty because nasty is what the NHL wants.

Amazing line. Not sure any of the Habs players would ever say they were meek. But they might say they need to have more conviction at finishing plays, being nasty in all sense of the word.
Great year!!
Meanwhile nazar (picked with romano s pick) at chicago is small but promising 2nd center this year. I dislike bo hovartz or barzal idea. Long and expensived contracts for players who will decline soonly
Great article Brian.
Thanks for another great season, Brian.
But the violence in playoffs was always there. Im thinking changes soon. Florida’s D
2x6.6’, 2x6.4 2x6.1 plus
6 forwards 6.3, that’s big team. That’s 10 players 6.3 or bigger. Physically in NHL is getting worse.
Marco Rossi he is talented, Wild need cap space but doesn’t address size need
Vincent Trochek, 3 years on contract, 60 points, excellent faceoff guy, under 6 feet but plays bigger with over 200 hits and he shoots the puck
Another trade for a young player with a 60pts ceiling (a la Dach)
And
Long term signing of a UFA with a 60pts ceiling.
(A la Bennett)
Habs need a second C1.
Hughes must find his Stamkos/Point combo.
Short term
Nick/Duchene
Long term
Nick/Caleb
Global is lucky having you.
Can’t wait for next year!
Fabulous read!
Thank you!
Habs need to get rid of Laine!
I was pleasantly surprised to how Demidov reacted to physical play the last two games. He went hard sometimes and even managed to pull a couple reverse hits. That kid is special.
"I gained a lot of respect for that team over there. They got a bright future obviously. They competed really hard & they got a bunch of warriors…”
Coming from Wilson that says something.

I watched The Hammer, The Hound, and darling little Bobby pull this crap 50 years ago. I thought we'd gotten past that. Bettman's taking us backwards.
They’ll be room on the wing.
I think the guy who has the big question is Laine. No idea if his knee is bad or fell out of favour.
Evans Dach Heineman ? Beck Kapanen waiting ?
We shall see. There are always surprises
