In biology/anthropology “tame” is not the same as “domesticated”: bears can be tamed but not domesticated; a tame bear can revert to wild and dangerous behavior. Do you think the same is there true for cryptocurrencies?
Bitcoin, the prototype cryptocurrency, is unworkable for a variety of reasons, but if the idea is to use it as an anonymous currency, why does governments holding it in reserve affect that? I realize that it's a problem for crypto bros who want to get rich by investing in it.

Bitcoin isn’t just fiat, it’s horrible for the environment too
