Life changing.

I still vividly remember the opening to this game as a wee one.

The storm, the quiet castle, sneaking by the guards, excitement for a new Zelda.

I was just explaining this to one of my friends who just played it for the first time the other night. pointing out the Cinematic storytelling that was suddenly more possible in the 16-bit era, exemplified in the atmosphere and narrative framing of the openings of Super Metroid and LTTP

It was one of the rare ones with a French-Canadian translation back then. I didn't speak English yet so it added a lot for young me.

Very telling that Nintendo reused the formula for A Link to the Past in so many later Zelda games (Ocarina of Time is basically ALTTP but in 3D, with the light and dark worlds swapped for ‘light’ present and ‘dark’ future settings).
