Its original intention notwithstanding, I feel like it’s frequently used in an ironic or hyperbolic way; like I can picture a slow motion shot of someone diving for a glass of red wine spilling over a white carpet
It's so bombastic. Also they need to stop making the in memoriam a tiny part of the screen we don't care about watching a literally faceless (bc lighting) choir, just make the actual people being remembered the full damn screen.
This is like the god knows how many-th year in a row they've made the memoriam needlessly fucking weird. They came close a few years back with a really nice pared down acoustic bittersweet song, but the same fucking small-screen crap. Just do a goddamn montage, how hard is it?
Because its use in TV and movies for the last few decades has been as a backdrop to moments of unsettling revelations and villains' grand machinations.
