here’s what I know: sometime in the last 24 hours someone uploaded an indexed photo archive of the collection from 2001

best guess I’ve got right now: there was a dealer that got called in after the bottom dropped out to figure out what - if anything - was worth selling and they took pictures of it

I'll also preface this by saying that it's not a secret where the compound is as I have seen other people say where it is (mostly on the brunei subreddit), but it doesn't seem to be "common knowledge" so to speak. Either way it was fun to figure out where it was and write this up

Alright, so looking at these photos we can see a few things that stand out: a building with these circular ramps up to the next level, a thin glass building that seems like some kind of display area (note the tiles outside it), and a building with a long ramp, these are our detective clues

Brunei isn't that big but I still didn't want to trawl through every industrial area in the country looking for clues. Interestingly in the "miscellaneous" category on the drive there are a couple of very different photos there, of what looks to be a grand-looking hotel dining room.

One of the replies on Radar's post had this article. It's written by someone who looked over the collection in 2002. Interestingly he notes staying at a hotel called The Empire. So, the photos come from one of several different dealers who were all invited to view the collection in the early 2000s, and all stayed at the same hotel, so they must have gone the same way to the compund. The author said he went along the coast. Going east yields nothing, but going west...
